Partnership Enables Innovative Synchronization Solutions for Legal
A large part of SeeUnity’s time is spent working with law firms to provide solutions to the challenges they are facing. Often, firms experience issues when it comes to sharing content, whether this is internally, or externally with their partners, vendors, or clients. One of the solutions SeeUnity offers, the Echo Content Synchronization (Echo) product, works with a variety of connectors to the mostly widely used business applications, such as iManage and HighQ, to allow firms to sync their data bilaterally, or one-way, either by publishing or archiving files in a system.
HighQ is an integrated reseller partner for SeeUnity and shares many of the same legal clients. It is by combining products that the two companies have been able to provide content sharing solutions to law firms all over the world.
“Bridging the Divide Between ECM and Enterprise Collaboration” is a webinar created by SeeUnity and HighQ that discusses some of the most common problems surrounding sharing content. We have summarized the content of the webinar, as it covers the functions of both SeeUnity’s Echo and HighQ’s Collaborate, to provide insight into how these products are enhancing the ways in which firms are sharing content.
The premise of Echo is to improve productivity by streamlining the collaboration process and act as a bridge between data systems. This is particularly important, as the popularity of consumer tools/third party businesses applications has risen in recent years. IT is now falling behind the consumer curve, as many users have taken on a “do-it-yourself” attitude, especially when it comes to file sharing. Both SeeUnity and HighQ have created products to alleviate the use of “unofficial cloud file-sharing tools” to improve collaboration and security.
HighQ’s Collaborate solution blends together file sharing and social collaboration which improves project management. This, coupled with Echo, allows IT to maintain control of the system, whether this be a cloud-based platform or an on-premise DMS, but it also increases user satisfaction by making it easy to share documents and collaborate both internally and externally.
We have pulled examples from another webinar, “Strategies for Sharing Legal Content Internally and with Clients” in order to better show the impact SeeUnity and HighQ’s products are having on the legal industry.
The first example is a use case from a Scottish law firm, Burness Paull. This firm has over 480 attorneys and wanted to improve their internal and external collaboration. They were using three different systems to store content, one of which was HighQ. By implementing Echo and using HighQ to enhance external collaboration, Burness Paull was able to set up a bilateral sync to automatically detect and sync content changes between their various repositories, ultimately reducing manual errors and the amount of time it took to share data internally and externally to their clients. Users were able to work in their system of choice, which improved workflow and helped maintain Information Governance.
The second part of the “Strategies” webinar is about external sharing, which shows how Echo helps IT maintain control. As mentioned, Echo can be synced either automatically or by the user. When done automatically, it is transparent to users and is controlled by the administrators. A user-driven synchronization still allows the administrator to set limits on what type of content is being pushed out and how often this is happening, meaning that even a manual user sync still allows for IT oversight. No matter the chosen configuration for synchronization settings, collaboration between users and clients is greatly improved, as the amount of time it takes to share files is reduced and the security of the system is increased.
Both webinars showcase practical solutions when it comes to solving content-sharing challenges, specifically in law firms. Echo, along with HighQ’s Collaborate tool, allow firms to share content not only internally, but externally to their partners and clients as well. In addition, Echo solves the issues brought on by the rise of consumer tools/third party business applications and IT’s challenges related to security and Information Governance.
